The 13 lucky quick steps in setting up Madics DVerto to a SQL Server and updating records on the fly with Ashell File Hooks.

First create a new database on your SQL Server called DvertoExample (The table etc will be created for you later)

Launch DVerto and in the Local Database settings enter the SQL Server settings and database name.

In the Ashell Server settings enter your Ashell Server location and settings, this screen shot example is for Unix.

Please note DVerto/Ashell File Hook updated requires Samba for Unix as well as FTP Access.

Enable write triggers in the Server Trigger section and enter the full window or Unix Samba path to the DVerto log file created in Ashell, these paths will differ on your server.

In Ashell check/set the full samba path to the SALMAN.DAT file, this is set in the SALMAN.DVT file

Check the Data file and log locations in the DVHOOK.INI

Now enable the file hooks in Ashell by running INITDV, please note Ashell 5.1.1174.8 or later is required.

Check the Ashell File Hook/Trigger DVHOOK.SBX exists.

Run SALMAN test program, this will ask you the Sales man’s name and updated Record 4

The WRITE will cause the Ashell Hook to launch DVHOOK.SBX and create a DVERTO.LOG

Run DVerto (if its not already running) this will find the DVerto log and update the relevant record.

(Frist time around/if the tables does not exist the a full table import will be done)

Select the View Data Tables option and you can see the Sales_Rep_File data.
